Tool Mechanic

Turck location: Beierfeld, Halver

Tool mechanics produce punching tools, bending devices or casting and injection molds for industrial series production. They process metals, for example, by drilling, milling and hammering, but also using CNC machines for which they also write programs. They use measuring and testing equipment to check the dimensional accuracy of workpieces up to a few thousandths of a millimeter.

Tasks
  • Producing devices and special tools 
  • Maintaining, repairing and converting tools and molds 
  • Operating CNC machines 
  • Creating CAM software for CNC machines 
  • Sawing, grinding, turning, screwing, clamping, riveting, gluing and soldering
Duration of training
  • 3.5 years
School leaving certificate
  • Secondary school leaving certificate, „Realschulabschluss“ (Beierfeld)
  • Qualified certificate of basic secondary education, „Qualifizierter Hauptschulablschluss“ (Halver)
Prior knowledge
  • Mathematics, physics, German, computer science and craftsmanship
