Industrial clerks deal with business management tasks such as materials management, sales and marketing, human resources, finance and accounting. They control business processes and, depending on the department in which they work, have a wide range of tasks. This ranges from comparing quotations in purchasing to personnel planning activities for human resources.

- Processing payroll and employment contracts
- Identifying staffing needs and maintaining personnel statistics
- Planning marketing and promotional activities
- Comparing quotations and negotiating with suppliers
- Planning, controlling and monitoring the manufacturing of goods
- Creating costings and price lists
- Processing, posting and controlling all business transactions
